Kurrywalah, an Indian restaurant located in Katy, TX, has quickly garnered attention for its delightful cuisine and inviting atmosphere. Many diners rave about the freshness and authenticity of the dishes, reminiscent of homemade meals. A standout menu item is the Biryani, expertly cooked in a dum pukth style, accompanied by a cooling raita—perfect for those warm Texas days. We had the buffet here on a weekend, the buffet runs from 11-2:30pm. Cafe like seating arrangement, quite clean and organized. The staff was so attentive, they periodically checked if anything needed. Now the most importantly, the food was fresh and flavorful, on the less spicy side. Favorite dishes were Aloo tikki, pakora, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, eggplant dish. Daal needed little bit more seasoning. I also would have liked the kheer without coconut but that’s just personal preference.

I couldn't wait for the opportunity to write this review. I found this restaurant by accident and I'm really glad I did. First of all, the friendliness of the staff made me feel welcome and invited. The menu is clear and concise. Most importantly, the food tasted almost like it was homemade from scratch. Each dish was made exactly to my personal requests. I think this is hands down the best Indian restaurant in Houston. Great prices, great community. Tandoori Roti swimming in butter, spicy Aloo Gobi rich with flavor.

UPDATE: I decided to go back again, which was always the plan since the food is unbelievable (best in Katy for sure). Met the owner's wife and had a great conversation with her! Exactly what I was expecting the first time around. Super dignified and respectful. I will leave the details of the conversation out but long story short, she agreed that the previous visit wasn't a good experience for a customer, especially a regular customer. When she saw we were ordering our regular choices, she suggested a different appetizer (samosa chat) and a different chicken entree (kadai chicken). And as always, her suggestions were awesome! We still haven't had anything here that we have not liked. As always, highly recommend the food here. Am super happy that we are back to good experiences here! UPDATE: I am not sure what happened, may be the owner was having a bad day or something, but he didn't do the substitutions that we always used to get. May be a change in policy? Nope. He says in his 3.5 years, he has never done that. I have a bigger issue with the denial than not getting the substitution. So not sure if his employees used to do that behind his back or the policy changed recently (which he denied BTW). And he seemed rude too, not sure why. They used to be very welcoming, used to remember me by name and then suddenly this behavior. It's sad because the food is really good and I want this to be my go to place for Indian food but bad customer service is something I cannot stand. So updating my review from 5 to 3 just for bad customer service. Hopefully this will change and they will go back to how it was in the past. I will be the happiest one to change my review back to 5 stars. A great place for Indian food in Katy! There aren't many Indian places here (which is a big surprise for me given the Indian population here), but even if there would have been, Kurry Walah would have topped it! We wanted to try as many dishes as possible since it was our first time, so we ordered the thali, which is kind of a sampler for two (I think it would have worked even for 3 people, the portions were that generous). We ordered a lacha parantha on the side and boy, it was awesome! The masala chai was strong (in a good way), good to keep me awake for some time! The service was great too and the ambience is cozy. Honestly, cannot think of any reason to deduct even 1 star. Highly recommend this place (coming from an Indian)!

I decided to try Kurry Walah based on reviews and it's close location. I am so delighted I did as this is truly some of the best Indian cuisine I've ever had! Since I'm a new customer, I tried the dinner for 2 as it has a good sampling of quintessential Indian dishes. I asked for "medium heat w just a little kick, but not hot" and they were dead on with the spice level. The food was fresh, the lamb superb which is hard to find especially these days. The flavors in every dish were warm and comforting, which is what I truly love about Indian food. The presentation was lovely as well. The staff was just as warm as their food, checking on me several times. I can't name one person specifically because literally everyone checked on me at least twice. Please do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a meal here. You won't be disappointed!

We had the buffet, it was delicious!! I love it that they have real napkins, real silverware, and glassware, which creates a more enjoyable experience to me. And cuts down on plasticware and paper towels.. everyone here was so nice , thank you Kurrywalah! We'll be back and definitely recommend.

Great Indian place! Naan is fantastic, as is the curry and biryani. I've done takeout twice and it's always ready quickly and stays warm! I'm not a huge spicy person and the Medium level is perfect! (Mild is a little too tame imo)

I have been eating here for years, and was happy to see an improvement in service tied to new ownership. The food was as wonderful as ever. If you're unfamiliar with Indian food and want to try it, this location operates a buffet during lunch hours.
